What: Rock Solid - A new multimedia exhibit chronicling the Rockport-Fulton area’s journey through the last five years. Rockport-Fulton Chamber of Commerce & Visitor's Center, 319 Broadway St across from Rockport Harbor at the Rockport-Fulton Chamber of Commerce and Visitor’s Center. Admission is free. Donations are accepted. Hours: Mon-Fri 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Fulton Mansion will open their exhibit at 10 a.m. that morning titled "It's Still Standing..."
The History Center for Aransas County exhibit “Weathering the Storms of 1919 & 2017”
Why: This museum-quality experience tells the remarkable five-year story of community cohesion and nationwide support that sustained Rockport-Fulton on the road to recovery. Whether they experienced it firsthand or through news reports, local residents and visitors alike can enjoy this stirring story of resilience and the restoration of this coastal gem.
Who: Dat Nguyen is a former American football linebacker who played professionally in the National Football League (NFL) for seven seasons with the Dallas Cowboys. He played college football for Texas A&M University, and earned All-American honors. He is the first Vietnamese-American to be drafted, play, and be recognized as an All-Pro in the NFL. In 2017, Nguyen was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame. After the storm, Nguyen was heartbroken for his hometown. He reached out to officials in the community offering his support. Recording this video was one way he could give back to support the people.
