2010 Christmas by the Bay in Rockport-Fulton Whooping Cranes, Lighted Boat Parade, Illuminated Land Parade, Fireworks, Large Kite Fun Fly, Art Galleries, Antiques, Holiday shopping, Fish Fry and more! Rockport, Texas (October 12, 2010) – Nothing is more spectacular than a Christmas By The Bay celebrated in Rockport-Fulton, Texas with a myriad of activities throughout November and December. Holiday lights reflect off the water providing a twinkling welcome to Christmas visitors. Some of the delights and family fun include: half-day boat excursions to view the world’s only migrating flock of Whooping Cranes; Tropical Christmas Celebration followed by the Illuminated Land Parade; and the Rockport Yacht Club’s Lighted Boat Parade. A must-see is the lighting of the Children’s Tree at the circle of Rockport Beach Park. “The tree has been an ‘icon’ for the last 25 years at Christmas. More than 800 lights spirally align reaching its pinnacle at the gold star,” says Diane Probst, president and CEO of the Rockport Fulton Chamber of Commerce. “It’s truly a brilliant sight along the bay that is followed by a lighted boat parade, illuminated land parade and fireworks, all free!” Decorated yachts and boats light up the harbor in a dazzling array of holiday radiance beginning at 6 p.m., on Saturday, December 4, just after the lighting of the Children’s Tree. The procession of Christmas clad sea vessels enters Little Bay near the Saltwater Pavilion and continues to the Key Allegro Marina. Then, music fills the air and costumed carolers invite parade goers along Seabreeze Drive in the Rockport Beach Park to sing along. Later that evening, the Illuminated Land Parade begins at 8 p.m. and travels along the bay from Rockport Beach Park to the Downtown Heritage District, culminating in a fireworks display over the bay at approximately 9 p.m.; an incredible sight of colors that that seem to swim on the water. The Christmas Historical Homes Tour, December 10 and 11, is an opportunity to learn about the area’s heritage and explore the amazing architecture, ending with Caroling at the Fulton Mansion at 6:30 p.m. A complete activity brochure filled with Holiday delights and family fun can be found on the Rockport Fulton Chamber of Commerce website. November and December are great months to head down to the coast. To make plans for a unique holiday season in Rockport-Fulton call (800) 242.0071 or visit www.rockport-fulton.org.
