Rockport-Fulton, Ultimate Destination for Summer Fun!

Rockport-Fulton, Texas (June 21, 2010)  Memories of summer last a lifetime, whether it’s that first open water adventure – kite boarding, kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing expedition or simple treasures found while strolling along the beach.  When we think of summer  water activities are almost always involved.  Rockport-Fulton offers endless opportunities of warm weather fun and has compiled the ultimate in family activities on its website at www.rokport-fulton.org

Rockport Beach is the gem of the Texas Coast.  This beach proudly flies the “Blue Wave” Flag, signifying it as nationally certified by the Washington D.C. Clean Beaches Council.  The Blue Wave certification is like having the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval.  Rockport Beach Park offers 71 private covered picnic cabanas, each with a BBQ grill, three beach playground areas, two sand volley ball courts, four public boat launches, fish cleaning stand, bathhouse, walking trail, bird sanctuary, an 800’ fishing pier, and plenty of boating and fishing space.  There are also two indoor, well equipped waterfront facilities and a large outdoor shelter available for rent.

The 12-acre Community Aquatic and Skate Park consists of an outdoor, year-round two-pool aquatic complex with a 6,000 square foot street-style modular skate park.  The park also touts a nature trail, picnic sites, and playground. A Multipurpose Pool is open to residents and visitors of Aransas County. Swimmers 10 years and under must be accompanied by an adult,  18 or older.  The walk-in Splash-n-Spray Pool has a maximum depth of 3 feet, with slides, sprays, and fountains.  The modular, street-style Skate Park features quarter pipes, grind rails, and pyramid. Family Nights are Tuesday through Thursday, 6:45 to 9 p.m.

A number of public parks are available for a variety of activities; the 72-acre Memorial Park contains nearly two miles of paved hike and bike trails, soccer and baseball fields, two tennis courts, and a basketball court.  Children playgrounds and picnic sites are also located in the park.

The Aquarium at Rockport Harbor is located at 702 Navigation Circle, just across from the Center for the Arts.  The Aquarium is on the eastern side of Rockport Harbor and is open Thursday to Monday, 1 to 4 p.m. Admission is free and the energetic docents love to show off the 12 tanks with a great variety of local marine life.  Numerous exhibits and fun activities for the kids and a huge fish mobile grace this 2 1/2 year old attraction.
