U.S. Chamber Awards Rockport-Fulton Chamber of Commerce with 5-Star Accreditation

Rockport-Fulton, Texas (June 15, 2010)  −  The U.S. Chamber of Commerce announces that after a comprehensive review, it is awarding the Rockport-Fulton Chamber of Commerce with 5-Star Accreditation.  This prestigious honor puts the Rockport-Fulton Chamber among the top one percent of Chambers nationwide.

The U. S. Chamber of Commerce recognizes the Rockport-Fulton Chamber of Commerce for its sound policies, effective organizational procedures, and positive impact on the community.

“Accreditation validates a chamber as having programs that benefit their local economy and for positively influencing action in their community,” said Raymond P. Towle, IOM, CAE, U.S. Chamber Executive Director of Political Affairs and Federation Relations.  “We applaud these organizations for advancing the principles of free enterprise.”

Accreditation is the only national program that recognizes chambers for their effective organizational procedures and community involvement. In order to receive Accreditation, a chamber must meet minimum standards in their operations and programs, including areas of governance, government affairs, and technology. This extensive self-review took six months to complete.

In the evaluation materials, the US Chamber Accreditation Team stated the following: The Rockport-Fulton Chamber of Commerce has done an excellent job in many areas and has implemented a wide variety of valuable and successful programs for its membership.  The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is proud to accredit the Rockport-Fulton Chamber with our highest level of recognition, the 5-Star ranking.  Congratulations on this remarkable achievement!

“This is an amazing program which sets the higher standard for Chambers of Commerce across the nation. It just shows the devotion this Chamber has for its members. We are very honored to receive this award,” President/CEO Diane Probst.

Local chambers are rated Accredited, 3-Stars, 4-Stars, or 5-Stars. The final determination is made by the Accrediting Board, a committee of U.S. Chamber board members.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world’s largest business federation representing the interests of more than 3 million businesses of all sizes, sectors, and regions, as well as state and local chambers and industry associations.

The mission of the Rockport-Fulton Chamber of Commerce is to work in partnership with businesses, individuals and governmental entities to promote commerce and tourism while maintaining and enhancing the environment. For more information about the Rockport-Fulton Chamber of Commerce visit www.rockport-fulton.org.
