25 Chamber of Commerce Representatives and Surrounding Organizations Meet in Rockport-Fulton

Rockport, Texas (November 24, 2009) – Texas Coastal Bend Regional Tourism Council  chose Goose Island State Park for its last meeting of the year Tuesday, November 24 to network and finalize upcoming activities.

The TCBRTC promotes tourism in Aransas, Bee, Brooks, Calhoun, DeWitt, Goliad, Jackson, Jim Wells, Karnes, Kleberg, Live Oak, Matagorda, McMullen, Nueces, Refugio, San Patricio and Victoria counties. Their mission statement is to educate to visitors what the Coastal Bend offers.

The day started off with Mike Mullenwig, an interpretive Park Ranger with Goose Island State Park, sharing the miraculous story of the “Big Tree”, the History of the State Park and the Civilian Conservation Corps’ role in building the Park and all the hardships that they had to face in the process. Lunch was provided by the Aransas County Council On Aging which was themed around Thanksgiving. The day was concluded by TCBRTC holding their business meeting.

“Having the representatives from other chambers and surrounding organizations work together is beneficial not only for the success of future tourism to our local communities but marketing and promoting the Coastal Bend as truly a unique package,” states Diane Probst,  President/CEO of the Rockport-Fulton Chamber of Commerce.
