Goose Island State Park, a longtime favorite of many campers and fishermen, covers 314 acres and is located at the conjunction of Aransas, Copano and St. Charles Bays. The park is noted for the "Big Tree", the State Champion Coastal Live Oak and the opportunity to view the endangered whooping cranes. Good fishing opportunities abound for speckled trout, red fish, drum, flounder,and sheepshead, as well as for crabbing and oystering. Goose Island State Park is also an excellent place to observe water birds, water fowl, shore birds, and passerines --- both in migration and in residence.Campsite and shelters accommodate up to 8 persons, with a combination of motor vehicles and trailers not to exceed two. Campsites have picnic table, BBQ grill and water. Restrooms with showers are nearby.
Mainland/Wooded Area: 57 sites with electricity and water; 25 sites with water only.
Bring insect repellent and firewood. Canvas shoes are recommended for bay front activities.
Pets must be kept on a leash.
Your are responsible for knowing and obeying park rules and regulations.
Open: 7 days a week, year around. Busy season: February through Easter; Memorial Day through Labor Day; October through Thanksgiving. Reservations recommended year around; can be made up to 90 days in advance.
Directions: 10 miles north of Rockport on State Highway 35 to Park Road 13 then two miles east to Park entrance.
